FAQ
Where Can I Find 3D Printable Files?
Printables, Makerworld, Cults 3D, Thangs, and Thingiverse are all good starting points, with both free and paid options. If you need help finding or preparing a file, get in touch.
What is FDM 3D Printing?
Fused Deposition Modelling builds objects layer by layer using thermoplastic filament. It's the most common desktop 3D printing method and what we use for all standard orders.
What is PLA and why do you use it?
PLA (Polylactic Acid) is a bioplastic derived from renewable sources like corn starch. It's easy to print with, produces consistent results, and is less environmentally grim than most plastics. It's our default material for good reason.
How durable are PLA prints?
Solid for most purposes; prototypes, decorative items, functional parts with moderate demands. It's not ideal where high heat or heavy impact resistance is needed. If your project requires something hardier, ask us about alternatives.
Can PLA prints be used outdoors?
Short-term, yes. Long-term exposure to direct sunlight and heat will degrade them. For anything meant to live outside permanently, we'd recommend discussing material options with us first.
How accurate are your prints?
We can print at layer heights as fine as 0.1mm. Minor variations can occur on complex geometry, but we'll flag anything likely to be an issue before we print it.
What file format do I need?
STL or 3MF. If you're unsure how to export your file, we can help.
How long does printing take?
Anywhere from under an hour for simple small prints to many hours for large or complex ones. We'll give you an estimate with your quote.
What are your size limitations?
Maximum build volume is 220mm x 220mm x 220mm. Larger designs can often be split and printed in parts.
Can I paint or finish my print?
Yes. PLA sands, primes, and paints well; acrylics work fine. A light sand before priming will give you a much cleaner result.
What if my print breaks?
Superglue or epoxy will handle most breaks. If it's beyond saving, we can reprint the part at a reduced cost.
How do I place an order?
Head to our Request a Quote page, upload your file, and tell us what you need. We'll come back to you with a price and turnaround time.
